Frequent Asked Questions
All the things you want to know before you start
Absolutely not! You won’t find yourself married to a chair, nor waking up kissing a pole, or doing the chicken dance. You are aware of everything that happens during hypnosis. You are very relaxed, but conscious and aware of anything that we are saying or that is happening around you.
No. All the changes that are going to occur with RTT are changes that you desire to happen. Nobody in hypnosis can make you do what you don’t want to do already. The mind accepts things in hypnosis that you wouldn’t have accepted out of it, but it still has to be something that you want to happen.
You might have different reactions while in hypnosis, you might feel sad for a moment, or mad, or have strong emotions that bring up tears and is totally normal and actually beneficial to experience strong emotions, but other than that you won’t lose control. You are, in fact, always in control and aware of the session and things around you.
It could happen that your mind lands on a deep dark secret and that you want to talk about it, but I can’t make you tell me anything that you don’t want to. So if you rather not share with me, I will ask if you understand why the mind picked up that particular scene and we will move on with the session.
You will definitely remember everything we discussed about, just like you would normally do in any other conversation you have. After the session most people feel lighter and free, some feel tired, a few can have a need to go empty the bowel more frequently in the days that follow the session, which is the body language of “letting go”. Is not uncommon that some may experience a worsening of the symptom during the days that follow the session, because the body might have been accustomed to the problem for quiet some time and shows the fear of letting go of it; it is important to stay committed and believe change is possible, of course I will follow you up during the healing process.
Every client experience changes, but of course the intensity of it varies from person to person and from session to session. RTT is most effective with clients that are open to hypnosis and believe in the power of inner resources. For most is a total life changing experience, whether they get there with one session or multiple sessions. Is important to mention the results increase if you do “the work”, if you listen to your personal recording for 21 days and are committed to changes. Multiple sessions on one issue have the best results rates.
No. Hypnosis doesn’t erase part of your memories; what it could do tho, is to attach a different meaning to it to free you from the pain that memory creates in you.
None can tell if the memory that arise in hypnosis is real or false. But even if it’s not real, what matter is WHY the mind created that memory in that way? So is still helpful to look at it, what emotions it brings up and what beliefs you formed because of it.
The main difference is that while in traditional therapy you might need years before hoping to see improvements, with RTT, as suggested in its name, the results are much more rapid as RTT goes straight to the core of the problem and is solution oriented, enabling the clients to understand the root cause of their presenting problems.
Traditional therapy is up to 60 minutes session of talking on a conscious level of mind operation, that means if the client is not ready to talk about something, the issue is postponed to the next session and so on, until eventually becomes ready to talk about it. In RTT the session is over 90 minutes, usually 2 hours, which the clients leaves with major clarity on the problem, since the work is based on the subconscious mind operation that goes straight to the point, plus you leave with a customized recording, yours to keep forever.
Faster results, less sessions means less money invested too.
Generally you can start experiencing a change immediately during the session, when you begin to understand the beliefs that kept you stuck in the problem, and continue to experience changes as you listen to your personalized recording. People can perceive the results differently based on commitment, personality and type of issue. For some is immediate, they feel something has switched for them right after the session, but for other can be cumulative, small but consistent improvements, or retroactive as the changes appear only when looking back and realizing how far they have come. Like having little kids and realizing one day they need a whole new wardrobe as they grew, but having them constantly in front of our eyes we didn’t notice every change until it was obvious.
No. You can’t stay in hypnosis even if you wanted to.
The number of sessions needed depends on the issue you’re coming with, for example if you’re coming to quit smoking or nail biting a session might be enough, but if you’re coming to heal from a trauma you might need more than one session. It’s hard to tell you ahead of time the exact number of session you need, but is something I can address very quickly during the first session. Often a session is like opening a Pandora box, where the layers of different issues cover up the main problem. You can come with a “simple issue” and then uncover deeper things that you might want to work on. Generally I recommend 3 sessions. If you purchased more than you actually needed you can either keep it for something else you might want to work on, as we focus on one issue per time, or even gift them to someone you know might need it.
We acquired this conception that hypnosis gets you in a trance state, but that’s not what RTT does (actually RTT takes you out of the trance state you are trapped in). It’s all about feeling completely relaxed, there’s no right or wrong way to experience it. Every person experiences it differently. Some said it was like a floating sensation, some said they felt a little light headed, or their head felt heavier on one side, some had a tingling sensation, it could even be a mix of all this in different times of the session. But it’s never really uncomfortable. Some even said they didn’t feel any different.
